Ideas, Sex, OWS and the Tea Party

John Stossel writes an interesting piece on Ideas Have Sex…and We’re Better for It. He quotes Matt Ridley, author of The Rational Optimist, who says “Ideas spread through trade. And when they meet, they can mate, and you can produce combinations of different ideas.”

It would seem that this is precisely what makes the OWS and Tea Party movements so exciting; lots of people, not necessarily experts, coming together communicating and exchanging a flurry of ideas.

Mr. Ridley attributes our inventiveness, and our increased life span, to people coming together and letting their ideas mate. May OWS and the Tea Party breath new life into our political sphere!
